Adobe RGB'd

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 4, 2012, 6:59 PM
Hi All,

Just a Note to those using Photoshop CS6.

I have found that lately all my images look washed out and have poor contrast and colour when I upload them to any website, but look great on my computer (locally), I contacted DA but they said they were not sure but were confident it wasn't them.
I accepted that and moved on to figure out what it was, it turns out, even if you tell Photoshop not to use AdobeRGB colour Profile when you are saving your image as a JPEG and even in the Settings of Photoshop tell it to inherit the Colour profile in Camera (Mine is set to sRGB) it doesn't care and will save your JPEGs as AbodeRGB.

To overcome this, you will need to Use the Save for Web Function (CTRL+SHITF+ALT+S) where you can tell it to convert to sRGB.
It will add Hyphens to your save file unless you go into Settings and Custom all the fields to 'none', and make sure you max the quality settings.

You photos will now look nice again on DA and everywhere else, and if your like me and have produced a few hundred photos under the AdobeRGB profile you will have to open each one and re save the images....

Fun times =\

You're most certainly welcome, I love your style, its creative and adventurace, keep up the good work =D
Haha Thanks, glad you like my stuff, Its just me mucking around most of the time though lol
You can tell how serious I am by the camera I just bought (Sony RX100 pocket camera) lol, although to me its a challenge, to see if I can make a pocket camera's photos look like something out of a DSLR lol, need to plan more adventures into the wilderness though me thinks =P

aww thank you, I'm so glad you think so! ah the sony RX100, very cute camera, I actually prefer smaller cameras, easier to go here and there with. But I've always hesitated getting one as I'd feel the Nikon D80 my brother left for me would go to waste. My uncle (a wonderful graphic designer) truly believes a camera is only as good as it's user! Would love to see what you come up with (:

My pleasure haha
Haha yeah that's why I went for it, especially for urban exploration, I was getting sick of carrying around 10KG of photographic equipment, I mean I still like to use it every now and then but for the most part these days I try to use the little one as much as possible, easier on the ol shoulders lol
The Nikon D80 is perfect for your style, and I'm guessing you use a prime lens mostly? It's not too much of an inconvenience using a DSLR and just one lens I reckon, do you take RAW?
You're uncle is wise, the camera is important but only to a certain point, it's what you do with it that counts, especially if you are creative (I can tell your work definitely is :))
Also an APS-C and an f1.8 prime = awesome depth of field! haha you get that awesome blur (bokeh) that makes photos look more creative, the RX100 has an F1.8 lens but the sensor is 1/3 the size so the depth of field isn't as good... Let me know if you want any knowledge re the technical side of photography haha, I spent a lot of time researching it =P
