Hi All!
First off thanks for all the support from everyone on my new work, my macro's worked out alright so I am happy with that and my new style Panoramas are coming out just the way I hoped.
Sorry for Slackness in thanking for favs, I've got 4k of notifications to get though =S
First things first, I decided to spend a bit of cash and get the Sigma 8-16mm, I already assumed it was going to be awesome based on reviews I've read, but in practice, It's absolutely amazing! The way it renders colour is great, I find skies get that beautiful blue and clouds pop out as if I were using a CPL filter but without the loss of light, in fact, I compared the 18-55 with CPL with the 8-16mm and the colours render much in the same, I am a big fan of the way CPL makes colours look so this is a major plus in my opinion.
The extra 2mm from your typical 10mm is quite nice, It's dead quiet and super quick to AF and have had 0% out of focus shots on the K-5 out of about 400 shots so it's performs very well, I highly recommend it to anyone who is willing to give up using filters at wide angle.
Reading around bits and pieces online I found some AutoFocus test info about the Pentax K-5 (To keep my groups info up to date) that made me smile;
pentaxk-5.deviantart.com/blog/…I was very surprised to see it out perform the Nikon D7000, a big surprise in my opinion, I would assume by default the D7000 would out perform the K-5 because of Nikon's history in top of the line AF systems.
Pentax has it's sights at No#1, Best APS-C Sensor to date, Best Phase AF now in it's class, Best build quality in it's price range.. I'm quite impressed, now all they need is a bucket of new DA* lenses with equivalent optical quality as Canon L lenses for half the price and they will be a No brainer in the DSLR world.
All my new Panorama's I took with my Sigma 8-16mm, it's not appearing in the EXIF data on DA. I've been taking 3 layered Horizontal Panoramas as the Sigma's horizontal distortion profile at 8mm is amazing, I'm getting very few wobbly horizons.
The Macro's I took I used a full manual 50mm f/1.4 Pentax lens and some extension tubes, the aperture ring is a must, otherwise your stuck with the lenses highest aperture, I used a Ray Flash Ring (for the e canon 580) along with the Metz58AF2 to get balanced exposures, anyone shooting macro's using a flash and soft box, give a flash ring a shot some time, you may just like it, my soft box gave me some mixed results but the ring was great shot after shot.
Anyway that's me.. Peace out people
